Mt. Shasta Reflection
| Posted by: | CommentsAs we are now in the middle of the Mercury Retrograde period, how have you been feeling lately? Feel like things have been slowing down or coming to a standstill in some aspect of your life? Well, you are not alone.
Now is a perfect time to reflect…

Mt. Shasta Reflection
Mercury Retrograde allows us a ‘time-out’ to catch up with ourselves by going within and reflecting on who we are. By doing so, something from the past may be revealed to you in a different form. People, ideas, or buried insights may resurface in order for you to move forward.
Perhaps dreams and goals that got lost in the shuffle of everyday life… The Mercury Retrograde period can be a perfect time to reflect upon those longings and ponder your soul’s purpose. You may feel inclined to look over your desires of days prior, review your creations, or muse on your inner spiritual calling…
For me, I was led to pick up and read a book from my bookcase yesterday. I guess because I’ve had a yearning to revisit Mt. Shasta again, I started to reread Mt. Shasta, California’s Mystic Mountain by Emilie A. Frank. It’s a wonderful book of astonishing legends, strange interviews and incredible tales about this mystic mountain.
There is one chapter in the book that captured my attention. In it, the author, interviews the ‘Cosmic Lady of Mt. Shasta.’ Although the interview took place in 1976, I feel it is very pertinent to what we, individually and collectively, are experiencing as humankind shifts into a higher consciousness. Cosmic Lady, albeit eccentric to some, has some insightful observations about where Spirit may be guiding you.
You may want to reflect by reading the story here:
Cosmic Lady Visits Mt. Shasta
Before going into the subject of spaceships seen in the area surrounding Mt. Shasta, it would be well to relate an interview with one of the most colorful ladies I have ever met. She arrived in a flurry of rainbow colors on a sunny September day in 1976, and her purpose was to leave this planet alive — in a spaceship. She said she expected to leave planet Earth without the painful experience of dying. Naturally I dropped whatever I was doing in the newsroom and started taking notes.
She was known, she said, as ‘Cosmic Lady,” and she added, “My name is also Janus Aurah Karmah.” Actually, her real name was Janice Aurah Kramer and she was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, in 1930, but in 1973 she had accepted the personality of “Cosmic Lady.” Since that time she had dedicated her life to channeling messages sent by “cosmic guides” with whom she was in constant psychic contact. Her guides had directed her to Mt. Shasta.
“Why Mt. Shasta?” I asked.
“Mt. Shasta is a major spaceship station,” she said. “Around Shasta are a lot of nonbelievers which is part of the cosmic paradox, but I am so especially privileged to be here at this very holy place. Who knows, I may get my spaceship pickup here.”
‘If my guides mean for me to go back to Santa Cruz, I will do more groups. I’ve had oodles of one-to-one seedplanting — you know, turning the soil. But my first choice is leaving this planet because when Cosmic Lady does the rainbow poof, when she goes through the veil of death without dying, just think how much easier it will be for others who don’t want to go out the hard way.
‘We are coming to an age of great light — and love,” she said softly.
I stared hard at this small, intense lady. She was admittedly 46 years old. She was dressed in rainbow colors, draped with meaningful pendants, and her headcovering was aglow with sparkling stones and colorful feathers. She explained herself as being “naturally me, and that’s vast and complex.”
After spending hours with her, I would certainly agree that she was vast and complex. She could quote Freud, Spinoza, Plato, Socrates, Jung, and she knew all about I Ching, the Cabbala, and astrology. She taught New Age therapy, and I found myself hanging on to every word. Frankly, sometimes she lost me completely.
I admitted this and she chuckled. “I’m a channel for this particular expression of the gift of love. I ask for divine inspiration and then just open up to receive the flow. Since there is only death of material and physical bodies, in this philosophy, the universe is a giant warehouse of everything that ever was, is, and will be. So I tune in to the consciousness of marvels like Solomon, Plato, Socrates, Moses, Freud and many other incredible minds.”
I asked about her background. She was born January 10th, 1930, in Massachusetts, graduated from high school and moved to Boston for training as a lab technician, after which she moved to New York for one year and worked as a medical secretary. She said she suffered a breakdown working out her karma but recovered and moved to Washington D.C., in 1954 where she worked for the Democratic National Committee and also in administration on Capitol Hill.
Los Angeles beckoned in 1957 where she worked as a secretary in a mental retardation clinic and, while there, decided to continue her education in the field of social work. She was 29 years old. Working her way through school, she received a B.A. in Psychology (Phi Beta Kappa) which led to a Master’s Degree in Social Welfare at the University of Southern California.
As a trainee she was a probation officer in Watts and also worked in Venice, California, where she counseled and helped young Mexican-American girls. Her first official job as a social worker was with the Volunteers of America Family Council in Los Angeles where she worked with families and also in drug counseling. It was during this period of her life that she joined, in 1969, the New Age group “Movement of Inner Spiritual Awareness” and in 1972 she received one of the first revelations of her life. In a book, entitled Aquarian of Jesus the Christ the comforter (Holy Spirit) is mentioned as “she” — and even at the time of this interview she considered this a most major revelation.
“New Age therapy will be to the New Age what Freud was to the old,” she said to me. “I never imagined I would be doing this. I had a good job in Los Angeles. Money and time and all that used to be very important to me. I worked hard for my Master’s degree Then all this happened and everything changed. I’ve stayed in hundreds of houses for the last two years. Houses, crash pads, churches, and even a shed in Berkeley. I like the symbology of that: staying in a manger.
“I’m known as Janus. Janus is an archetype, medi-type, proto-type. Janus in Roman mythology is the head that looks in all directions. Janus is also a principle — of third eye, doorways, windows, shadows, light and dark, good and bad, mirrors, beginnings, endings. My middle name ‘Aurah’ means light in Hebrew – aura around our bodies, the rainbow that some folks see. And I use the last name ‘Karmah’ — what goes round comes round.”
When asked in another interview by reporter Adi Gevins of the Berkeley Barb if she had followers, Cosmic Lady replied. “Those of us who are free spirits don’t have to be gurus. We don’t have to charge a lot of earth money. When my channels were first opened, I thought people would flock to me. The New Age therapy I was given to teach is so exciting. Then I realized I would have to do it alone. I have had to move alone and fast ever since. Two years ago the Cosmos sent me penniless to Big Sur like the ‘Fool’ in the Tarot, to walk through death. They told me they would pick me up and take me back home. The Cosmos work’s in funny ways. I wandered in the hills and waited but they never came.”
“I see,” I said, not really seeing at all. “This spaceship you’re waiting for now, where do you think it will take you?”
“I’ve been told I leave the planet.” she said. “And my consciousness leaves in a rainbow, possibly. I was sent to Mt. Shasta for specific reasons. It’s one of the most holy places on the planet, indeed. As to the place I will go, whether we call it the inner realms, heaven, the source, the light — my consciousness leaves and spends three and one-half years, more or less, doing what I’ve been doing on this level. For one thing, my consciousness channels a wisdom system and planet Earth is in trouble.
“Way back under the aeons,” she continued, “the karmic plot for Earth was devised — this series of millennium beginning with Mu, Atlantis, Egypt, the Inca, the Aztec, the Maya, and so forth — and we, so it goes, ‘needed’ the crucifixion, the inquisition, Hitler, bombs, Vietnam, a few world wars, so that a spiritual Watergate could take place. We’re coming to the junction, the renewal time. There’s no judgment day. That would be too simple if a big hand pointed left and right. Because, for one thing, there is no eternal damnation There is no hell. Earth has been a training planet so this level that I reflect is the level above consciousness-raising. We are pure consciousness.
‘There are no ‘themes.’ We are all ‘us’es’ and it’s a matter of karma. Karma is a state of consciousness, as is everything. America, we had to practice for 200 years. While so many of us, everywhere, are seeing that all over the planet we want the same thing. We are life. We are worth more than money. Consider America. Black’s got slavery, Jew’s got the road. Especially in America. A hodgepodge brought together. So when we see in terms of the giant cosmic soap-opera, we come here throughout many incarnations to transcend the idiocy and the horror and the ridiculousness of the Earth level.”
Her strange rainbow-hued costume fascinated me. Even in today’s world of anything-goes, she was unique. I asked her about it.
“My costumes are fun. They express the many dimensions of my personality. I love being eccentric now. It feels right and natural and expresses my complexity,” she said, smiling. “Also, I work with color and healing and I love varying expressions of color patterns. My feathered hat is especially joyous to me. It’s magic, as is life, and feathers are a symbol of wisdom in many cultures.”
She was, she said, finally herself and she had found that life is really a marvelous stage. “I’m an Earthling. But I’ve transcended. I’ve paid my dues. I live on pennies and I’ve slept in a few hundred places during the last few years as Cosmic Lady. I have been treated really shabbily by most folks. Most Christians are not very Christian. Christianity is in very serious trouble. We all work out the ‘Christ’ and the ‘anti-Christ’ and if we have judgments, if we waggle our finger at someone and accuse them of the Anti-Christ, then we are not learning how to be selfless and ever more humble and loving, as we each must in our time. It feels good to be good.”
Cosmic Lady carried with her what she called a carpet bag, 22 inches by 28 inches in dimension, containing her wisdom system, the gift of which was, she said, eternal life. She shares the system with those interested. Vast and complex, like the Cosmic Lady herself, the wisdom system consisted of large wisdom wheels of New Age therapy.
“Would you explain your wisdom system?” I asked, eyeing the colorful wheels.
“The wisdom system that I have the privilege of channeling,” she explained, “is how to really, with great cosmic awareness and sensitivity, use the divine sciences. For instance, we built the pyramids by levitation, and with third-eye laser, we put our energies into cutting those big blocks and transporting them across the lands. Look at the pyramid buildings in South America in the very high mountains.
“There is no way that Earth-level slaves could have done most of that.
“The understanding of metaphysics is the thorough knowledge of divine law as it comes in through the sciences. Earth-level scientists are in a lot of trouble with all the genetic experimentations. Look at the method of freezing our bodies for immortality. Why? We are already immortal. So there exists what I call especially wavy lines.
“And take earth-level justice. In America we are karmically so complacent on so many levels. The ‘good old days’ were not that good. We went out to manifest destiny and saved, we thought, the world for democracy. The New Age will be a cosmic universal spiritual government with a touch of democracy, a dab of socialism, some communism, all updated, of course. You see, we are coming to a time when we will look very clearly around the planet and see that we are all ‘us’ — we are all incredible spiritual beings, so in cleansing our closet we revere life.
“Obviously the planet has to be cleansed. And also apparently obvious, there are so many on the planet who, unless great miracles occur in karma, will not be evolved enough to live in a civilized society. So we usually have to do what we call ‘die’ to renew contracts. On the inner realms there is no such thing as time, we do not have a body, and we may stay on the inner realms for many lifetimes. In the next years we will be given choices. Everyone on the planet will know that if we, indeed, want to stay here, we will be here because we love Mother Earth, because we love each other. And if we want to move on because we’re old or sick or tired or finishing ancient incarnational patterns, when we have cleared our ‘third eye’ and our heart, we won’t have to leave in many of the atrocious, horrendous ways of the old consciousness. And if we are not evolved enough yet to really serve the ‘Light’ and we have to work out more incarnational patterns, then we will choose to leave.”
Cosmic Lady paused for a moment. “It takes a while to get used to. Life is such an incredible gift — we walk, we talk, we sing, we dance, we think, we make love, we create. So we are all creators. We are Divinity. And once we know what it is we are here to do, well… like when my consciousness accepted ‘Cosmic Lady’ there was no way I could not do it the way it came through me.
“Whatever we do, there is always somebody who says do it, don’t do it, do it another way, stop it, be normal and our minds have been so full of corruption and greed and confusion and the wondering of ‘who am I?’ When all the time, up and down throughout the ages, there has been Light. We’re it. We are Light. We are Light. We are unioning now Our Divinity, whether we call it soul, spirit, life. But we’re it. More of us are now consciously surrendering.”
I asked her about her “rainbow” image.
“The rainbow is healing and is the mark of God’s covenant that he/she/it will not destroy the Earth. This is the butterfly age. Many of us are emerging from the moth stage through the cocoon into universal citizenship. And the sun is the giant battery of solar energy from the one source which we can enter for more love, peace, and light. We are, all of us, everything. Some of us, of course, have more profound orchestrations. My life is dedicated to serving and helping to bring in the New Age through expanded awareness. My consciousness is free spirit and it serves Mother/Father and tends to reach the most disillusioned, the most disenfranchised, the most damaged flowers.”
“And you believe,” I asked, “that all Earthlings live with this Infinite Invisible — this Omnipresence?”
“Most certainly,” she nodded. “On every heartbeat. The small mind of each of us is channeled to the Big Mind.”
The interview was over. I followed her to the door and we said goodbye I walked in the fresh air for awhile, trying to assimilate the complexities of the strange interview. Then an incredible thing happened. There, in a perfect arc over Mt. Shasta, was a rainbow. I have seen many rainbows arc over Mt. Shasta but what puzzled me most about this rainbow was — it hadn’t been raining.
I stared at it for a few moments, trying hard to recall one of the last things she had said after the interview. “One of the signs of the coming age of enlightenment will be the rainbow light-show in the sky when Cosmic Lady is returned home.”
